Five Points Historic District – Huntsville, Alabama

Five Points neighborhood on northeast side of downtown Huntsville, Alabama is one of the three designated historic districts near downtown Huntsville, Alabama. The other two are the Twickenham and the Old Town.

 

Five Points Historic District is covered by the East Huntsville Subdivision. Properties on the north side of Five Points are served by Lee High School, Chapman Middle School, and Chapman Elementary School. Due to the historic designation and the close proximity to downtown Huntsville, Five Points has become increasingly desirable area for locals to call home. Renovating older homes, tearing down homes that cannot be cost-effectively renovated, building shot-gun style, craftsman or bungalow style homes to replace the inhabitable ones is an ongoing process and creates one of the more exciting real estate market areas within the city.

For the locals, the shops surrounding the Star Market at the 5-point intersection of California Street, Holmes Avenue, Pratt Avenue and Andrew Jackson Way signifies the center point. Although, the historic district area of Five Points have specific geographical boundaries, the locals may consider Five Points extending beyond those boundaries in areas such as Goldsmith Schiffman Field on the west side and the area north of the historic district towards Oakwood Avenue.
